Cert. III Fitness

CERTIFICATE III IN FITNESS

The Certificate III in Fitness will give you the practical skills and knowledge to register and work as an Exercise Trainer in fitness centres, gyms, pools, community facilities and in open spaces. The Cert. III in Fitness will teach you how to work with individuals and groups of various ages and abilities. You will learn how to monitor and manage fitness business activities and how to operate a business efficiently and profitably.

Exercise Instructor & Personal Trainer Career - Tasks & Responsibilities

The Cert. III in Fitness qualification reflects the role of Instructors who perform a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry.

 

Instructors usually work independently with some level of autonomy in a controlled environment such as fitness, leisure and community centres. Risks are managed through pre-existing risk assessment and hazard control processes. 

 

Group Exercise Instructors deliver exercise sessions designed for participation by a group of clients with a mix of ages and fitness levels. Classes may be freestyle, pre-choreographed or circuit style.

 

Gym Instructors provide individually tailored client assessments, technique corrections and they develop and demonstrate fitness programs. They may also provide supervision of a facility or service and handle various customer inquiries.

CERT. IV IN FITNESS

The Cert. IV in Fitness reflects the role of Personal Trainers who have specialist skills to train individual clients or groups.  Graduates of the Certificate IV in Fitness can obtain credit transfer for the Diploma of Sport Coaching or Diploma of Sport Development. Personal Trainer Career - Tasks & Responsibilities

The Certificate IV in Fitness reflects the role of Personal Trainers who have specialist skills to train individual clients, or groups of clients on a one-on-one or group basis. A Personal Trainer may also train older clients and children. 

 

A Personal Trainer who completed the Cert. IV in Fitness has a substantial depth of knowledge to plan, conduct and evaluate exercise training. A Personal Trainer with this qualification can provide leadership and guidance to clients and other staff and deal with unpredictable situations applying defined guidelines and procedures from the fitness industry. Personal Trainers work independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve problems, including monitoring and managing business activities to operate efficiently and profitably.

Sport Coaches with this qualification would supervise training and provide competition assistance to athletes including supporting their psychological preparation and conducting post competition analysis of both performance and strategy.

Cert. IV in Sport Coaching qualified Coaches would also be responsible for athlete support needs in conjunction with other personnel. Sports Coaches with this qualification may also be responsible for the output of others and undertake broader business functions including long and short term planning.

DIPLOMA OF SPORT COACHING

The Diploma of Sport Coaching is suitable for those that pursue a career as a Coach at a high performance level. This qualification will help you contextualise and relate knowledge to the current encounters fronting coaches working with elite athletes and organisations involved in high performance sport.

 

Graduates of the Diploma of Sport Coaching may be eligible for a study pathway to obtain credit transfer to a

A High Performance Coach holding the Diploma of Sport Coaching has the knowledge and skills to observe elite athletes to determine the level of instruction required. A High Performance Coach would plan, conduct and evaluate high performance, individualised and team training programs.

Individuals holding this qualification would also supervise practice sessions and provide in competition assistance to athletes including supporting their psychological preparation and conducting post competition analysis of both performance and strategy. High Performance Coaches can also run their own sports training facility and or offer coaching services.

Dipl. Sport Coaching
