Minimum wages in Australia increased on 1 July 2022

From the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022, minimum wages in Australia increased under the National Minimum Wage and under most awards.


What is the minimum wage in Australia?

The National Minimum Wage applies to employees not covered by an award or registered agreement.


From the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022, adult minimum award wages increased by 4.6%, which is subject to a minimum increase for award classifications of $40 per week and based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee.


Other award wages, including junior, apprentice and supported wages that are based on adult minimum wages, will get a proportionate increase.


The new National Minimum Wage in Australia is $812.60 per week or $21.38 per hour.


Some award rates increase 1 October 2022
